Zenonas Namavičius

Zenonas Namavičius (born May 15, 1943 in Eimuliškiai, Panevėžys district municipality ) is a Lithuanian lawyer, legal historian, lecturer at Vilnius University , former judge of the Lithuanian Constitutional Court and former diplomat .

Life

In 1967 Zenonas Namavičius graduated from the Law Faculty of Vilnius University . From 1967 to 1993 he was an assistant, then a lecturer at the chair for legal theory and legal history. In 1973 he received his doctorate in Moscow at Lomonossow University on the subject of "Political Theory of Joachim Lelevel ".

From 1993 to 1999 he was the Lithuanian ambassador to Germany and from 2000 to 2002 to Russia . From March 2002 to 2011 he was a judge at the Lithuanian Constitutional Court. As a lecturer, he teaches the history of political and legal theories at Vilnius University. From 1989 to 1992 he headed the Lithuanian Lawyers Association ( Lietuvos teisininkų draugija ).

Namavičius is married; the son Justas Namavičius is a lawyer, member of the legal department at the University of Bonn , and Andrius Namavičius (* 1968) is an administrative lawyer and diplomat.
