Location of Central Australia Territory

Central Australia existed as Australian territory from February 1, 1927 to June 12, 1931 . It was created on the initiative of George Pearce , an Australian Minister for Home and Territories . This was justified by the fact that the Northern Territory was too large to be adequately managed. Central Australia, created by the North Australia Act 1926 - the border line in the north ran along the 20th parallel south latitude - was, however, reunited with North Australia to form the Northern Territory after a good 4 years.
