Vashosszúfalu [ ˈvɒʃhosːuːfɒlu ] (German Eisen-Langendorf ) is a municipality in Vas County in Hungary and belongs to the Sárvár small area . At the end of the 19th century the place was only called Hosszúfalu or in German Langendorf in the Goldau . The county name Vas was added in the 20th century to distinguish the place from other places with this name in other formerly Hungarian parts of the country, for example in the east of today's Slovenia ( Slovene Dolga vas , municipality Lendava) or in Transylvania (today District of Săcele ).
The place has the typical shape of a long street village . The number of inhabitants is 356 (as of 2011). The area of the municipality covers 13.92 km².
The village is one kilometer north of the European route 66 , which connects Graz with Székesfehérvár , and about five kilometers west of the point where this east-west artery intersects with the major tourist route 84, which leads from Sopron to Lake Balaton . It is 23 kilometers from Vashosszúfalu to the district town of Sárvár.
Just under a kilometer outside of the village is the former Puszta Ódorfa , formerly an independent town as Szentódorfa ( Szent Ódor-falva or Zenthodorfalwa ). The old name ending -falva suggests that this place was founded at the time of the Arpad rule . Here, a venerable bishop was formerly the (odor Hungarian.) history
The two settlements are mentioned for the first time in the 15th century and were initially owned by the Hungarian general Pál Kinizsi and Count István Szapolyai , who pledged them to Tamás Bakócz , the bishop of Győr and later Primate of Esztergom . From him they were bequeathed to Count Péter Erdődy . This magnate family held the manorial power until the Second World War. She entertained u. a. in Ódorfa a manor with a hunting lodge, the buildings of which are still partially preserved, and a brick factory that supplied large parts of the county with building materials.
