Central class work in German

In German, the student can choose from four topics, of which he only has to work on one. Students have 150 minutes to choose and work on one of the following topics:

  • two discussion topics (usually a free and a text-based discussion )
  • Interpretation of a poem
  • creative interpretation (dialogue, monologue, diary entry, letter ...) of a short story.

Depending on the topic, a more or less detailed elaboration is necessary: discussion and interpretation require a longer essay; creative interpretation but a more differentiated preparation.

The texts in the first part must consist of at least 150 words in total. The main subject of grade 10 in English is the United States . Therefore, there are often tasks on topics such as immigration to the USA, the USA in general or also the youth in America.

In the second part (Part B, Translation), the students have to translate an English text into German . These texts are usually around 120 words long.
