history
In 1971 the technical systems of the US Army in Hof were taken over by the German Armed Forces. Until 1996 the investigation center was called the "Telecommunication and Radar Center of the Bundeswehr". With the foreign missions of the German armed forces , significant new fields of activity were added. The investigation center has been under the Strategic Reconnaissance Command since the beginning of 2002, before that under the Bundeswehr Intelligence Office . Until July 2013 the barracks of the investigating body was called General Hüttner Barracks .
In March 2019, 53-year-old Colonel Torsten Grefe took over command from Colonel Norbert Reineke, who had headed the investigative body for almost 15 years. The head of the investigation center is also the site elder . On the occasion of the handover of command, the investigation center was awarded a troop flag and a banner for the first time .
For 30 million euros, the investigation center is getting a new 2300 square meter office and laboratory building, which should be completed in 2021. The antenna and reception system is also to be renewed.
