The Central Technical School of the German Confectionery Industry e. V. (ZDS) in Solingen - Gräfrath is an association founded in 1951, which is supported by around 250 companies from the confectionery, food, supplier and machine industries as well as trade from the Federal Republic of Germany and abroad.

The ZDS is the central training facility of the German Confectionery Industry for the training occupation of / the confectionery technologists / confectionery technologist . On August 1, 2014, this replaced the job description of the specialist in confectionery technology . In addition, the ZDS serves NRW far as vocational school for the specialist in food technology . It also offers preparatory courses for the industrial foreman examination and training to become a state-certified food technician. In addition, the ZDS offers seminars, specialist conferences and internships on topics related to confectionery production, which are attended annually by participants from over 30 countries.

The ZDS advises companies worldwide and carries out company-specific training courses and series of tests for its members.

The Federal Association of the German Confectionery Industry cooperates with the ZDS and annually honors its three best graduates in the confectionary technologist apprenticeship .
