Frank "Zepp" Oberpichler (born January 25, 1967 in Duisburg ) is a German musician and author.

Life

In 1983 Oberpichler founded the band Ten Beers After, which performed cover versions of some songs by bands from the 1960s and 1970s such as Golden Earring, Jimi Hendrix, Rolling Stones and Dr. Feelgood occurred. The band developed into a pub and school party band in Duisburg and the surrounding area over the next five years. In 1988 the band broke up and Oberpichler formed the band Jimmy Keith & his Shocky Horrors with Tom Tonk. Many of his own songs, recordings and tours followed, including with the Jeff Dahl Group, Herman Brood and the Lazy Cowgirls. His next band, Zepp Strange, existed until 1999. The Schlaffke & Zepp duo was founded with the singer "Schlaffke", which made two CD releases and which emerged from 2000 with the drummer Buddy Die Kinskis . In 2006 the CD “Please Follow!” Was released. In 2001, The Who cover band Substitute was created as a party gag and lasted until 2004. Oberpichler repeatedly traveled to the USA to record and tour records with punk musicians such as Jeff Dahl , the Golden Arms and Freddy Lynxx. In 2004 Oberpichler founded the country cover band Freeway Cash with "Fisch" from the local heroes. In 2006 Oberpichler put together a number of his own compositions with German texts. In 2008 the first CD was released under the band name Oberpichler with the title January . In 2012 the CD Kleine Kreise followed , in 2015 the solo album Thank you, recorded with and by Peter Finger .

During his school days, Oberpichler wrote for various school newspapers and fanzines . From the early 1980s he wrote texts, songs and poems. In the mid-1980s he won the Duisburg Young Talent Prize for poetry. From 1988 to 1993 he studied German, sociology and pedagogy with a master's degree.

Oberpichler writes regularly for various punk fanzines such as Hullaballoo, 3rd Generation Nation and Plastic Bomb , where he has been responsible for his own column on music and literature since 1999, as well as for the online culture portal www.triggerfish.de. The first novel "The Stones are ourselves" (2002) is a collaboration with Tom Tonk. In 2009 the rock and roll novel Guitars Blood was published . In 2012 the book Heartzland was published in collaboration with the photographer Jürgen Kassel. In 2015 the book Grubenkind was published in collaboration with the photographer Jürgen Post. In 2016, the Ruhr area wild west novel Galgenvögel lie deeper appeared . In 2017 the rock and roll novel Chuck Berry over Bissingheim was published .
