Zergün Korutürk

Zergün Korutürk (* 1948 in Ankara ) is a Turkish diplomat .

The daughter-in-law of the former Turkish President Fahri Korutürk worked from 1969 for Millî İstihbarat Teşkilâtı , the Turkish domestic intelligence service. In 1977 she joined the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where she held various positions. She began her diplomatic career at the Turkish embassy in Lisbon , where she was ambassador from 2002 to 2007 . In 2009 she became her country's ambassador to Sweden .

After the Swedish Reichstag had classified the mass murder of the Armenians , the Arameans , the Pontic Greeks and other Christian minorities in the Ottoman Empire as genocide on March 11, 2010 , Korotürk was recalled by the Turkish government as ambassador from Stockholm . She explained that the Reichstag resolution had "cast a large shadow" on Turkish-Swedish relations.

Zergün Korutürk is married to the diplomat Hüseyin Selâh Korutürk . The marriage had two children.
