Zerrin Taşpınar

Zerrin Taşpınar (* 1947 in Ankara ) is a Turkish - Alevi poet and writer.

Becoming and working

Taspinar wrote his own poems in his early years, some of which were also published. The main themes of her writing are the Alevi religion around Pir Sultan Abdal and human rights .

In the early 1990s she was a member of the Pir Sultan Abdal Association and a women's rights association in Ankara. Taspinar was one of the survivors of the attack on the Madımak Hotel in 1993 . From 1995 to 1998 she was the secretary of a literary association, then she was involved in the TYS association in Ankara until 2000. During this phase, Taspinar also survived the Marmara earthquake on August 17, 1999, in which more than 50,000 people lost their lives. After the earthquake she wrote two books and distributed them to the utterly destitute street children. She was honored by the Emekciler Kadinlar , a German women's association in Ankara.

Most recently she worked for the Turkish broadcaster TRT and in 2006 signed an appeal with 323 other celebrities (including Yaşar Kemal and Mehmed Uzun ) with demands and proposals for peace and a solution to the Kurdish question.
