Zhao Benshan
Zhao Benshan ( Chinese 赵本山 , Pinyin Zhào Běnshān , W.-G. Chao Pen-shan ; * 1958 in Shizui , Tieling ) is a Chinese television and film actor . He is from Liaoning Province .
Zhao Benshan comes from a farming family and was orphaned at the age of 6 . His education ended with middle school. He has appeared regularly as a comedian in his homeland since the 1980s, until he was discovered by his then better-known colleague Jiang Kun. His first appearance, which received national attention, was in 1990 in the gala program for the 1990 Chinese New Year . His skits (小品, xiaopin), in which he often plays the role of the uneducated but quick-witted farmer, are particularly popular.
He is a fan of the Liaoning Football Club, in which he invested RMB 10 million in 2005 .
