Zhaocheng Jin Tripitaka

Zhaocheng Jin Tripitaka ( Chinese  趙 城 金 藏  /  赵 城 金 藏 , Pinyin Zhaocheng Jinzang , W.-G. Chao-ch'eng Chin-tsang ) is a Chinese print of the Buddhist canon that originated in China during the time of the Jin Dynasty (the Jurchen ) ( Three basket). It was published in the period from 1149 (the 9th year of Jin Huangtong ) to 1178 (the 18th year of the Dading era of Jin Shizong ), according to other data until 1173 (i.e. the 13th year of the Dading era).

The edition originated in the Tianning Temple in Xiezhou and was rediscovered in 1933 in the Guangsheng Monastery of Zhaocheng in the Chinese province of Shanxi , after which it is named. The original girth was nearly 7,000 juan . According to tradition, the edition was made by Cui Fazhen.

The edition is based on that of the Kaibao Tripitaka , published in the 10th century in Sichuan during the Kaibao era (968–976) of the Song Dynasty in Chengdu .

A modern edition published by the National Library of China was published in January 2008.
