Zhenjizhisi Grottoes

The Zhenjizhisi grottoes ( Chinese  真 寂 之 寺 石窟 , Pinyin Zhēnjì zhī sì shíkū  - "Nirvana temple grottoes") in the left Bairin banner , Chifeng , Inner Mongolia , People's Republic of China , date from the time of the Liao dynasty . The site is 15 km from the site of the first capital of the Kitan dynasty ( Chinese  辽 上京 遗址 , Pinyin Liáo Shǎngjīng yízhǐ ). The caves are famous for their 110 statues of Buddha.

The Zhenjizhisi Grottoes have been on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China (6-819) since 2006 .
