The Zhongtong Bus Holding Co Ltd ( Sino 中通客车 , Pinyin ZhongTong Keche ) is a Chinese bus - maker in Liaocheng . The company is traded on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange (SZSE: 000957) and is one of the most important bus manufacturers in China, building city buses and coaches for the whole world.
Zhong Tong is ISO 9001 certified and builds around 10,000 buses a year. Production takes place according to European standards.
history
The company was founded as Liaocheng Vehicle Construction and Repair Factory in 1958 and began building buses in 1971. After a number of name changes, it has been known as Zhongtong Bus Holding Co Ltd since 1998 .
Products
Products range from 6-meter light- weight buses to 18-meter high-end luxury buses, including street, city and trolley buses . In addition, school buses and a type of mobile home are offered.

In 2006, Zhong Tong was the first Chinese manufacturer to introduce a hybrid electric bus . Meanwhile, the city buses with alternative drives are produced at Zhong Tong as hybrid buses , but also as pure battery buses .

The company's production facilities have a total area of around 300,000 square meters. A subsidiary, Xinjiang Zhongtong Bus Co Ltd , is responsible for a production line that was operationally launched in 2007.
