The book Zhoupu ( Chinese  粥 谱  - “porridge recipes”) was written by Huang Yunhu (黄云 鹄) during the Qing Dynasty and was first published in 1881. The author is from Qizhou蕲 州 in Hubei Province .

According to its author, the work is also referred to in Chinese literature as Huang Yunhu Zhoupu黄云 鹄 粥 谱 ("porridge recipes of Huang Yunhu").

It contains around 240 recipes for porridge dishes, and it also covers the history of porridge recipes. All recipes are provided with a short introduction to use in dietetics, and some also refer to the preparation. The book is rich and provides good information.

In addition to the porridge recipes compiled from works such as the Zunsheng bajian (尊 生 八 笺) or the Bencao gangmu (本草纲目), it includes not a few from the population of Sichuan and Hubei , many of them have local peculiarities.

Appendix: Guang Zhoupu

The font Guang Zhoupu (广 粥 谱; "Extension of the porridge recipes") is printed in the appendix of the book . - Both writings each contain a booklet (juan).

Works with the same title

The author Cao Tingdong (曹廷栋) also wrote a script called Zhoupu (粥 谱) in the Qing period. To be precise , this is the last chapter ( juan no. 5) of his book Yangsheng suibi (养生 随笔 “Brush notes on nourishing life”), printed in 1773 , whose original title Laolao hengyan ( 老老 恒言 ; “Truisms for old people”) ) read. In Chinese literature, this script is usually referred to as Cao Tingdong Zhoupu曹廷栋 粥 谱 (" Cao Tingdong porridge recipes"). - There may also be a risk of confusion with other works or chapter headings published under this title.

The work is contained in the book collection Chugoku shokkei sosho and in the book series Zhongguo pengren guji congkan .
