Walter Glaser (ice hockey player)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Walter Glaser (born January 10, 1946 in Landshut ) is a former German ice hockey player who became German champion with the EV Landshut in 1970 under coach Karel Gut . He also played between 1976 and 1981 at TSV Straubing in the 2nd Bundesliga ice hockey .

Career

After the striker had run through all the youth teams of the EV Landshut, he joined the professional team of the club in the 1969/70 season, with whom he won the German championship in the first year. Glaser played for Landshut for a total of twelve years before moving to EV Regensburg in 1975 . In 1981 he ended his active career after a total of five years at TSV Straubing.

After his ice hockey career he became a biology teacher at the Hans-Leinberger-Gymnasium (Landshut) . He owns a large collection of historically valuable film recordings about German ice hockey history in the 1960s and 1970s. His students regularly enjoyed the demonstrations at Christmas time.

After his active career, he worked as a coach for the school team at the Hans-Leinberger-Gymnasium. Since this was a pure hobby team without the support of a club or the school itself, he financed the equipment himself and was thus able to enable less well-heeled students to practice this cost-intensive sport. The school team achieved unexpectedly great success in the Landshut school league. In addition to multiple titles of city master, the state championship title was also achieved in 1993 and 1994. In 1994, the title at the federal level could also be won at the youth training for the Olympics tournament .

In addition, between 1985 and 1987 he was the coach of ESV Gebensbach , a regional league team from Dorfen .
