The ice sports club Dorfen is a sports club from Dorfen in the district of Erding with the departments figure skating , curling , inline hockey , inline skating and ice hockey .

history

The ESC Dorfen was founded in 1967 and the senior team appeared for the first time in the higher-class league ice hockey in the 1983/84 season when they took part in the Regionalliga Süd . This league could not be held, so that the game was continued again in the leagues of the Bavarian Ice Sports Association .

Although the team achieved the championship title in the Bavarian League in 1994, it was only after winning the title again in 1996 that they were promoted to the second division south . With the reintroduction of the 2nd Bundesliga for the 1998/99 season, the team remained in the 2nd League South , which later played again under the "old" name Regionalliga Süd. Although the Dorfener was relegated from the league in the 1999/00 qualifying playoffs against ERV Schweinfurt , the team was able to continue playing in the league because of the dissolution of EV Landsberg . At the end of the 2001/02 season , the team then rose again athletically. For the 2002/03 season, the team should have moved up to the league according to the rules, but the application was not approved by the ESBG, which organized the league . As a result, the team took part in the Bayern League , in which they have played since then.

offspring

As part of the department's participation in match operations, the ESC Dorfen cooperates with ESV Gebensbach, which plays in the same stadium and is based in Taufkirchen . After the juniors of the ESC were promoted in the 2007/08 season, the club appeared in the 08/09 season with the students and the juniors in the regional league, the youth play in the regional league.

The 1st team of ESV Gebensbach currently plays in the Bavarian District League . The greatest successes of the ESV so far have been promotion to the regional league and in 2007 the Bavarian regional league championship .

Venue

The ESC stadium at the Volksfestplatz was converted into an artificial ice stadium in 1971 and roofed over in 1981. In 2004 the roof structure was renewed. Since the renovation in 2004 the ice rink has been officially named "Dr. Rudolf Stadion".
