The Kamienna Góra – Okrzeszyn railway (formerly the Ziedertal Railway, named after the Zieder river , whose course it followed) was a small railway in Lower Silesia in what is now Poland . It ran from Kamienna Góra (state hat ) via Krzeszów ( Grüssau ) to Okrzeszyn ( Albendorf ).

history

The route was opened on October 3, 1899 and started in the Silesian district town Landeshut am Bober . From there the train led upwards in the Ziedertal to the pilgrimage site of Grüssau . The normal-gauge route was almost 22 km long and rose steadily along the Rabengebirge further south to the end point in Albendorf .

The Kleinbahn belonged to the Ziederthal-Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft AG, founded on July 12, 1898 by the railway entrepreneur Herrmann Bachstein and some local factory entrepreneurs . The central administration for Secundairbahnen Herrmann Bachstein , which belongs to the Bachstein group, took over the management .

After the transition to Poland as a result of World War II, the railway line was nationalized in 1945. Passenger traffic ceased on January 1, 1954. On January 1, 1959, freight traffic to Okrzeszyn ( Albendorf ) also ended. Freight trains ran to Chełmsko Śląskie ( Schömberg ) until 1987 . On January 1, 1992, the remaining stretch to Krzeszów ( Grüssau ) was finally given up. However, the track systems have only been partially dismantled to this day.
