The brick-red windlass ( Caiophora lateritia ) is a species of the genus Caiophora in the nettle family (Loasaceae).
features
The brick-red burning wind is a perennial climbing plant that reaches heights of up to 3 meters, but is often cultivated as an annual plant in Central Europe and sown anew every year. The crown is nodding, brick-red, sometimes greenish white and has a diameter of up to 5 centimeters. The nectar scales are spotted yellow and dark red.
The flowering period extends from July to October.

The brick-red windlass is rarely used as an ornamental plant for trellises and summer flower beds. It has been in culture since 1836 at the latest.
