Ziga is both a municipality ( commune rurale in French ) and a department encompassing the same area in the West African state of Burkina Faso in the Center-Nord region and the province of Sanmatenga . The community has 34,108 inhabitants in 20 villages, the majority of them Mossi .

The Ziga reservoir , which supplies water to the nearby capital, Ouagadougou , is located in the municipality .
