The Ziga reservoir is a reservoir of the Nakambé (White Volta) in Burkina Faso .
location
It is one of several reservoirs in the Volta catchment area next to the Bagré reservoir and the Kompienga reservoir . It is located in the West African state of Burkina Faso in the northern Volta Basin in the Plateau Central Province of Ganzourgou . It holds 200 million m³ and dams the Nakambé with a dam just a few meters high , which otherwise only carries water 3 months a year.
Construction began in 1998 and since 2004 it has been used to supply water to the capital Ouagadougou, which is almost 50 km to the west . Due to the cost of around 230 million euros, the reservoir is the largest investment ever made in Burkina Faso.
