The White Volta or Nakambé is a river in western Africa and one of the headwaters of the Volta .
course
The river has its source in Burkina Faso, east of Ouahigouya and is about 900 km long. In the south of Burkina Faso, near Zabré , it is dammed up to form the Bagré reservoir . It unites with the Black Volta to form the Volta . The confluence of the two rivers is now, depending on the water level, in the Volta reservoir .
The catchment area is divided roughly halfway between Ghana and Burkina Faso. A very small part is fed from Togo by its tributary Morago .
