Plateau central is one of 13 regions into which the West African state of Burkina Faso is administratively divided. The capital is Ziniaré . The central region includes the provinces of Ganzourgou , Kourwéogo and Oubritenga . 647,516 inhabitants live in an area of ​​8545 km² (January 2006). The governor of the region created in 2001 is Ruth Yaméogo. The region is located north of the capital Ouagadougou and comprises mainly of Mossi populated central plateau .

The four fôrets classées Gonsé, Nakambé, Bissga and Wayen are located in the central plateau . The majority of the population is Muslim and lives from agriculture. The Laongo Sculpture Park, Sculptures de Laongo , and the Musée de Manéga are of major tourist interest .
