Sud-Ouest is one of 13 regions into which the West African state of Burkina Faso is administratively divided. The capital is Gaoua .

The region in the southwest comprises the provinces of Bougouriba , Ioba , Noumbiel and Poni , borders Ghana and Côte d'Ivoire and has an area of ​​16,576 km² with 623,056 inhabitants (2006 census).

Sud-Ouest is rich in flora and fauna, the landscape is characterized by wet savannahs.

The region was created in 2001. About 60 percent of the residents practice indigenous religions, 25 percent are Christians and 15 percent Muslim.

The main source of income is agriculture, the rich cultural heritage of the Lobi attracts many tourists.
