Zimmer Group , based in Rheinau - Freistett, is the umbrella brand of Zimmer GmbH , Zimmer GmbH Kunststofftechnik and Zimmer GmbH Daempfungssysteme . The individual companies deal with handling , linear , damping , process , machine and system technology .
history
In 1980 Zimmer GmbH Technische Werkstätten in Freistett, which has remained the company's headquarters to this day, was founded by the brothers Günther and Martin Zimmer. Due to the early establishment in the development and manufacture of highly complex components and system solutions in automation and handling technology, the garage operation became a high-tech company within ten years. Back then, customers were well-known companies from mechanical engineering and plant engineering as well as the automotive industry .
In 1999, Zimmer GmbH Technische Werkstätten started a collaboration with Sommer-automatic GmbH in Ettlingen , with which it then merged in 2013 to form Zimmer GmbH .
In 2004, Zimmer GmbH Daempfungssysteme was founded , which specializes in damping systems. At the beginning, the focus was only on the furniture industry, but components for the automotive industry are now also produced.
With Zimmer GmbH Kunststofftechnik , another independent company was founded in 2007 that produces series components in metal , plastic and elastomers .
In 2008, the company premises in Freistett were expanded by 11,500 m², but a bit away from the original plant.
In 2014, the company structure was rebuilt by first merging Sommer-automatic GmbH and Zimmer GmbH Technische Werkstätten to Zimmer GmbH . Together with Zimmer GmbH Dämpfungssysteme and Zimmer GmbH Kunststofftechnik , it has since formed the newly founded Zimmer Group .
