Otto Hanebuth

Otto Hanebuth (born September 11, 1911 in Stendal ; † August 25, 1988 in Saarbrücken) was a German sports scientist.

Life

Hanebuth was the son of Heinrich Hanebuth and Marie Möhrig. He studied in Marburg, Innsbruck and Königsberg. In 1939 he received his doctorate and received the Dr. phil. From 1938 to 1949 he worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Physical Education at the University of Marburg, and in 1943 he was appointed to the faculty . From 1949 to 1951 he was an assistant at the Institute for Physical Education in Göttingen . Then he taught as a lecturer for physical exercises at the Pedagogical Institute Darmstadt in Jugenheim .

In 1957 he became director of the Institute for Physical Exercise at Saarland University in Saarbrücken , in 1970 managing director of the Sports Science Institute (SWI), appointed professor in 1971 and retired in 1976.

He wrote numerous specialist publications.

Hanebuth had been with Ingeborg, geb. Bohm, married. The marriage had four children.
