The band hoe (also Bundaxt or carpenter's ) is a by Zimmermann used ax whose iron length and are narrow and has a straight short blade. Due to this special shape, it is used to cut raw wood and also to cut notches when angular beams are to be made from round wood .

The hoe is also used to split off larger shavings and to cut from the coarse as well as for all kinds of auxiliary work in carpentry.

In trade, the band hoe known as Spezialaxt with nail puller (a similar function as will Kuhfuß ) for wrapping rafter nails and for subsequently pin and Kerven described. Together with the ash wood handle, the ax weighs around 1.4 kilograms and is 80 centimeters long.
