The Zimný štadión Poprad ( German  Ice Stadium Poprad ) is an ice rink in Poprad , in which ice hockey is played in addition to figure skating . The hall is owned by the city of Poprad. The second oldest ice hockey tournament in Europe, the Tatranský pohár , will be held in the stadium in summer .

history

When it opened in 1973, the hall had a capacity of 5500 spectators, was restored in 2008 and 2009 for around three million euros and now has a capacity of only 4500 spectators. In the ice rink wearing HK Poprad from the Extraliga its home games and from the season 2011/2012 the HC Lev Poprad from the Continental Hockey League . Games of the C-World Championship in 1994 were also held in the ice rink . There is a press center and a VIP grandstand in the hall. The ice surface corresponds to the Canadian dimensions 56 × 26 meters and is therefore the smallest ice surface in Slovakia. However, it is also possible to extend the ice surface to normal European dimensions.

The previous names of the stadium were: 1973-2006 Tatravagónka aréna , 2006-2010 AquaCity Hockey Arena , since 2010 Zimný štadión Poprad .
