Interest farmers

Copyholders , also interest people , fork people or Zensualen ( lat. Homines censuales ) were members of the Bauer article opposite to the landlord to make certain monetary charges (interest money to Latin census = duty rate) were required.

The Germanist Adelung defines the interest farmer as a farmer "who is bound to pay interest to the landowner for the enjoyment of his land".

Originating from the ancient patronage system , in the Middle Ages a marriage fee, a fee in the event of death and a head interest were owed.

By payment of interest head the biological legally binding could to the body Lord (for personal commitment compulsory labor to be replaced).

The interest owed was entered in the interest register and collected from the interest money .
