The Eighth Main Building , more commonly the Zions Bank Building , is an office building in Boise , Idaho . At 19 stories and 98 meters (323 ft ), it is the tallest building in the city and in all of Idaho. It serves as the regional headquarters of Zions Bank as well as other companies. The building was completed in 2014 and opened on February 15th. Completion was a kind of milestone for the city, as the property had been vacant since 1987, which is why it was nicknamed the "Boise Hole".
In addition to Zions Bank, the tenants include the law firm Holland & Hart LLP and CTA Architects Engineers, who, in addition to Babcock Design Group, were responsible for the construction as architects. There is space for free events on the top floor.
The Eastman Building
Until 1987, the Eastman Building by the Idaho architectural firm Tourtellotte and Company stood on the property. It was opened in 1905 and expanded by 2 floors 5 years later. In 1926 it was renamed the Eastman Building after the owner's death. In 1972 the building was bought by the Boise Redevelopment Agency and was to be converted into a mall. The building was supposed to be demolished in 1978, but implementation was delayed by a decade after strong criticism. After plans for a restoration were made in January 1987, the building fell victim to a fire 2 days later, after which it was almost completely destroyed and then demolished. The property has been empty since then.
