The Cistercian Abbey Benoîtevaux was 1140-1790 a monastery of Cistercian nuns first in Busson, District of Saint-Blin , 1701 in Reynel , a commune in the Haute-Marne in France .

history

Not far from the monastery of La Crête , about 1140 northeast of Chaumont in the Val d'Ajoux (also: Val de La Joux , on the river La Joux ) between Busson and Roches-sur-Rognon, with the support of the Counts of Reynel, the monastery Benedicta Vallis "Blessed Valley “(French: Benoîtevaux , with numerous name variants) founded and placed under Clairvaux Monastery in 1397 . After their monastery was destroyed in the 17th century, the nuns moved to the nearby permanent location of Reynel in 1701, where they were supported by the Écurey monastery in the 18th century . The French Revolution led to the dissolution of the Convention in 1790. At the place of origin, only the farm "Ferme de Benoîtevaux" bears witness to the former monastery.
