The Cistercian Abbey of L'Eau was 1225-1792 a monastery of Cistercian nuns in Ver-lès-Chartres , Eure-et-Loir , France.

history

The local rulers donated the Cistercian Abbey of Notre-Dame de l'Eau (Our Lady of the Water) south of Chartres on the banks of the Eure in 1225 , which was destroyed and rebuilt several times over the course of history, until it was closed and rebuilt in 1792 by the French Revolution the result was predominant dismantling. The remains that still exist (including the entrance portal from the 13th century), which are located on private property, have been a listed building since 2014. The street name Rue de l'Abbaye de l'Eau in Ver-lès-Chartres is reminiscent of the former monastery.
