history
In 1235 Mathilde von Courtenay founded the Cistercian convent Notre-Dame-du-Réconfort ("Maria Trost"), whose church was inaugurated personally in 1246 by Pope Innocent IV . The monastery, which was rebuilt like a castle in the 17th century , was closed by the French Revolution in 1791 , was owned by Charles Dupin and his descendants from 1825 to 1949 and has been a rehabilitation center since 1987. The chapter house and sacristy are preserved from the medieval buildings . A statue of Maria Trost (in the form of a protective cloak Madonna from the 16th century) stands today in the church of Monceaux-le-Comte .
