The Cistercian Abbey Solières was 1229-1796 a monastery of Cistercian nuns in Ben-Ahin, Huy , province of Liège , in Belgium .

history

The Augustinian nuns of the Solières monastery, founded in 1224 (by the creek of the same name, seven kilometers west of Huy, in today's hamlet of Solières, on the east bank of the Meuse ) became Cistercian in 1229 (papal confirmation 1231). The monastery (which was marked on the famous Ferraris map from 1771) existed until its dissolution in 1795. Most of it was dismantled. The most important remainder is the abbess house, later called the “castle”. The complex (which also includes a large portal) has been a listed building since 1984.
