history

The Cistercian convent La Zaidía in Valencia (later the Trappist convent Benaguacil ) founded the daughter convent Nostra Señora de Fons Salutis ("Our Lady of Fons Salutis") in Algemesí (30 kilometers south of Valencia) in 1927 . When La Zaidía changed to the Cistercian Order of Stricter Observance ( Trappist ) in 1957 , Fons Salutis submitted to the Las Huelgas Monastery and joined the congregation of San Bernardo, which was directly subordinate to the Pope . In 1999 the monastery was closed. The last nuns went to Las Huelgas. The buildings were acquired by the parish.
