The Cistercian convent Montfaucon was 1638-1791 a monastery of Cistercian nuns in Montfaucon-en-Velay , Haute-Loire , in France.

history

Geneviève de Bronac, nun of the Cistercian abbey of Clavas , in cooperation with Lucrèce de Fay de Gerlande, nun of the Cistercian abbey of Saint-Just , founded on the basis of foundations of her brother-in-law Johann III. von Bronac, 1638 in Montfaucon the nunnery of Sainte-Croix ("Holy Cross"). In 1755, a fire killed several nuns. When the monastery was closed by the French Revolution in 1791 , it only housed 10 nuns. Buildings still preserved today are privately owned.
