Cistercian convent of Santa Ana (Consuegra)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Cistercian Monastery of Santa Ana was 1611-1850 a monastery of Cistercian nuns in Consuegra in Spain .

history

In 1611, a noble couple donated the Santa Ana monastery of the Saint Bernard Sisters (Bernardas Recoletas) in Consuegra (50 km southeast of Toledo ), which fell victim to the disamortization in Spain in 1850 . The nuns went to the Cistercian monastery of La Purísima Concepción (Villarrobledo) for ten years and were then incorporated into the Cistercian monastery of Santa Cruz (Casarrubios) . The monastery building in Consuegra was in the hands of the Franciscans from 1866 to 1983, which is why it is known today as the Antiguo Convento de los Padres Franciscanos (on Calle Fray Fortunato and near Calle Francisco de Asís ) (now a retirement home).
