The Cistercian monastery Zerbst (also: Ankuhn ) was a nunnery of the Cistercian women in Zerbst in Saxony-Anhalt from 1214 to 1542 .

history

The poor hospital, which was founded in the Zerbst suburb of Ankuhn in 1208, was endowed with a Cistercian convent in 1214 by the widowed noblewoman Ida von Zerbst, which was moved to the city center of Zerbst in the nineties and existed near today's Frauentor (name after the nuns) until 1542. The city of Zerbst is planning to use the remaining buildings ( small and large cloister courtyards ) that characterize the cityscape . In the Ankuhn district, the ruins of the Marienkirche testify to the former monastery.
