history

The Cistercian monastery Mogila in Kraków saw the parish supervised by the monastery grow so much through the establishment of the workers' suburb of Nowa Huta that in 1978, with the support of Cardinal Wojtyła , it was decided to build one of the Mother of Gods a short distance north of the monastery at Szklane Domy (glass houses) Czestochowa (Kościół Matki Bożej Częstochowskiej) and the church dedicated to Blessed Wincenty Kadłubek , a monastery and a school, all in one complex. Father Niward Karsznia (1933–2019) was appointed as the prior of the monastery convent, which was formed by splitting off from Mogila, as well as pastor of the new congregation John the Baptist and Our Lady of Czestochowa (until 2008). With the final building permit from 1983, construction began in 1984. The shell of the monastery was in 1987 and was ready to move into on October 9, 1990. The dedication of the church took place in 1995. A life-size figure of Jerzy Popiełuszko stands in front of the complex .

The monastery belongs to the Congregation Congregatio BMV Reginæ Mundi seu Polona (Congregation of the Blessed Virgin Mary World Queen or Polish Congregation) and bears the order number 11–01–01 in the Elenchus of the Cistercian Order. The prior is currently Franciszek Ferensztajn. He reports to the Abbot of Mogila, Piotr Marek Chojnacki (* 1966).
