Zita (saint)

According to Christian tradition, Zita von Lucca (Cita, Citha) was a charitable servant who was born around 1212 (or 1218) in Monsagrati (today part of Pescaglia ) near Lucca , who died on April 27, 1272 and who is venerated as a saint in the Catholic Church and was canonized on September 5, 1696 .

Her feast day is April 27th.

The saint is depicted as a maid with a bunch of keys and three loaves of bread (symbol for feeding the poor), further with beggars or with a rosary and a prayer book.

The relics are in the church of San Frediano in Lucca.
