Zodiac Private Investigator ( Japanese十二 宮 で つ か ま え てJūnikyū de Tsukamaete ) is a manga series by the Japanese illustrator Natsumi Andō (including Maria Ppoino! ). The series, also known as Zodiac PI, describes the adventures of 14-year-old Riri Hoshizawa, who solves various criminal cases.

Riri Hoshizawa : The 14 year old girl is in middle school and is an ace in astrology. This is an inheritance from her mother, who used to work as a fortune teller and who solved various criminal cases under the pseudonym Spica. After her mother disappeared without a trace, however, Riri took over her inheritance and also works as a detective as Spica, where she also accepts assignments. She solves her cases with the help of astrology. The star spirits in her mother's magic ring help her with this. These give clues, after which Riri solves the cases. All she needs is the dates of birth of the respective victims. Riri's main concern, however, is to find her mother again. Riri is very athletic and easily overcomes various obstacles, which is helpful to her in her investigations.

Hiromi Oikawa : The boy of the same age used to be Riri's childhood friend, but moved to the United States at the age of six. The extremely clever student skipped several classes there and already graduated from university in America. His specialty is criminal psychology . Back in Japan, he finally gets in Riri’s way during her investigations, but helps her solve the cases. He also discovers Riri's identity as Spica pretty quickly. Hiromi suffers from a girl's allergy and develops a rash when a girl touches him.

Publications

Zodiac Private Investigator was published in Japan from 2001 to 2003 in individual chapters in the manga magazine Nakayoshi . The Kodansha publishing house also published these individual chapters in the form of four edited volumes.

The manga has been translated into German, French and English, among others. Heyne Verlag has been publishing the series in Germany since autumn 2005 . The last volume was published in German in spring 2006.
