The zoopagales are an order of mushrooms that were previously assigned to the yoke mushrooms, but since 2007 they have formed a separate subdivision zoopagomycotina within the mushrooms.

features

The species are endo- or ecto- parasites of animals and fungi. The vegetative body consists of a simple, branched or unbranched thallus , or a more or less branched mycelium . The ectoparasites form haustoria .

Asexual reproduction occurs via arthrospores, chlamydospores or monospore or multispore sporangioles. The sporangiospores of multisporeous sporangioles form simple or branched chains. The sexual reproduction takes place via spherical zygospores. The sexual hyphae resemble the asexual ones or are enlarged.

Systematics

The zoopagales were previously placed in the yoke fungus group , which are, however, a polyphyletic group. Therefore, in 2007 the order was placed in its own sub-department, which, without being assigned to a specific department, belongs to the mushrooms. Some genera are:
