Nucletmycea or Holomycota is a taxon that includes one of the two clades of the Opisthokonta . It contains four groups, the largest of which is that of mushrooms . The sister taxons of the Nucletmycea are the Holozoa .

The taxon is defined purely phylogenetically and is delimited as the largest common clade around the recent species Neurospora crassa Shear & Dodge 1927, which in turn excludes the clade around humans ( Homo sapiens Linnaeus 1758) as a representative of the Metazoa by definition .

Taxonomy

The taxon was first described in August 2009 by Matthew W. Brown , Frederick W. Spiegel and Jeffrey D. Silberman on the occasion of a phylogenetic study on the fungus Fonticula alba . The publication of a more extensive study shortly afterwards led to the same conclusion, but the description of the same taxon under the name Holomycota as a counterpart to the sister taxon of the Holozoa led to the synonymization due to the priority rule .

The Nucletmycea originally contained according to Brown et al. only three groups, Adl et al. added the genus Rozella to these :
