Zsófia Boros

Zsófia Boros (born August 22, 1980 in Prague ) is a Hungarian guitarist living in Vienna .

education

Zsófia Boros studied from 1994 to 1998 at the same time at the Conservatory for Music in Bratislava in Slovakia and at the Bartók Béla Conservatory for Music in Budapest. She completed her studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna between 1998 and 2004 with excellent results. In 2001 she received a scholarship from the Herbert von Karajan Center . In 2004 she was admitted to postgraduate studies at the Francisco Tárrega Guitar Academy in Pordenone (Italy), which she finished in 2007. Her teachers included Professors Jozef Zsapka , Walter Würdiger , Paolo Pegoraro and Stefano Viola .

Projects

In 2004 she founded the duo AgiLeo with the flautist Daniela Lahner . In 2005 the duo received a working grant from the Swiss Foundation Dr. Robert and Lina Thyll-Dürr on Elba and in the same year released a CD under the title Evocacion . In 2008 the duo project anDANZAS followed with the Viennese tap dancer Sabine Hasicka. With their collaboration, both have developed a new music format, which they have already presented to a broad audience from Europe to the Middle East and which has inspired composers to write new pieces for their ensemble. Her other unusual duo projects include the program made in musikAtelier with the Austrian bassoonist Benedikt Dinkhauser .

  • 2006: 1st prize at the “Premio Enrico Mercatali” in Gorizia / Italy with the Duo AgiLeo
  • 2006: 3rd prize at the “8. Concurso de Guitarra Classica de Sernancelhe “in Portugal
  • 2008: 2nd prize at the 6th JKMertz International Guitar Competition in Bratislava / Slovakia
