To the three holy virgins (Lauperath)
The Roman Catholic branch church of the three holy virgins is a church building in the local community of Lauperath in the Eifel district of Bitburg-Prüm in Rhineland-Palatinate .
history
The branch church , consecrated to the three holy virgins Fides, Spes and Caritas , belongs to a group of three medieval choir tower churches that were built in neighboring towns. The other places of worship are St. Valentin in Krautscheid and St. Lucia in Hölzchen .
The massive choir tower was probably built around 1450. The choir shows its late Gothic origin on the pillars with octagonal capitals and bases. The rib-free cross vault was possibly built in 1710. The nave was rebuilt as a hall in the early 18th century. The choir tower is in danger of collapsing (as of 2018) and the church is closed.
