Zucchius is a prominent impact crater near the southwestern edge of the lunar front . It is located south-southwest of Segner Crater and northeast of the much larger Bailly Crater . The Bettinus crater can be seen in the southeast .
The rim of the Zucchius crater is symmetrical and shows hardly any signs of erosion. Due to its position, it appears very elongated from the earth due to optical distortion. The inner walls are terraced and a group of low peaks forms an arch around the center of the crater floor. The crater was probably made in the Copernican period ; H. within the last 1200 million years.
