Nicolaus Zucchius

Nicolaus Zucchius , also Niccolò Zucchi [nikkoˈlɔ ˈdzukki] , (born December 6, 1586 in Parma , † May 21, 1670 in Rome ) was an Italian astronomer and physicist .

Zucchius was a Jesuit and professor at the Collegio Romano .

In 1616 he developed the first reflector telescope . The moon crater Zucchius is named after him.
