Alvin "Zue" Robertson (* 7. March 1891 , † 1943 in Watts (Los Angeles) ) was an American trombonist of hot jazz , the typical way of playing the New Orleans Jazz founded on the trombone.

Live and act

Robertson first played the piano before switching to the trombone at the age of 13. He gained his first experience in circus bands and revue tours such as the Kit Carson Wild West Show . He later belonged to the bands of Manuel Perez , Richard M. Jones and John Robichaux in New Orleans . At times he led the Olympia Band and influenced the style of his friend Kid Ory . He also played with his own bands in the Storyville red light district of New Orleans and moved to Chicago after its closure in 1917; there he worked with Jelly Roll Morton , King Oliver (1924), WC Handy (with whom he went on tour), Dave Peyton and other musicians. He can be heard on recordings by Morton's Jazz Band (1923) and the Levee Serenaders . Robertson appeared from 1929 in New York, where he played organ and piano; In 1932 he moved to Los Angeles.
