Train of love

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Train of Love is a political demonstration that has been taking place in Berlin since 2015 . Since then, between 10,000 and 50,000 people have attended the event every summer.

description

Between 15 and 22 music trucks and social associations are represented as patrons of the annual demonstration. The demonstration will support social institutions and non-profit collectives that get involved in the social discussion. The association of organizers, musicians and media workers is also a non-profit association: Zug der Liebe eV The Zug team consists of Martin Hüttmann, Felix Hartmann and Jens Schwan. Financing is only provided through crowdfunding and private equity.

The first train of love was called “New Love Parade” in a message from the DPA in 2015, from which the organizers distanced themselves. Originally a demonstration with five wagons and around 5000 people was planned, which should primarily serve as a counterpoint to the upcoming Pegida marches, but as a result of the strong interest it grew to 15 wagons and officially 28,000 participants. According to police estimates, several thousand participants took part in 2018, and 50,000 according to the organizers. The major demonstration received funding from the Musicboard Berlin for the first time in 2018 and had the public broadcaster Radioeins as its media partner.

It was announced in the press that the last train of love would take place in 2018. Jürgen Laarmann , co-organizer of the Love Parade , wrote: “But the problem is the chronic overload of the organizers, who, with the growing success of their event, reach the limits of their voluntary commitment ... From a purely historical point of view, the city of Berlin would be well with money here to provide a remedy for the pots of cultural funding. "" In the spring of 2019, the decision was made to bring a 5th Train of Love onto the streets. The crowdfunding for the Train of Love 2019 started on March 15, 2019.
