Ascents
The Zuger Hochlicht is very rarely climbed in summer. The neighboring Mohnenfluh is a far more popular destination. The Zuger Hochlicht is climbed from the Mohnensattel ( 2315 m ) over a ridge or directly from the mountain station of the Steinmähder chairlift ( 2309 m ), which is only operated in winter . The landscape of the summit of the Zuger Hochlicht is less valued: “The remains of the former mountain railway to the Zuger Hochlicht are also a horror. [...] says that you can give yourself this summit! ”In winter, the Zug high lights are used by skiers for deep snow descents because it is relatively easy to reach.
Tourist development
Until 2001, a single-lane aerial tramway made by Waagner-Biro ran from the Kriegerhorn opposite to the Zuger Hochlicht. It had the slightly misleading name Mohnenfluhbahn. This cable car had a distance of more than 150 meters to the ground, the cable car stretched from peak to peak without any supports. In the course of the demolition of the Mohnenfluhbahn without replacement in 2001, the then four- seater Steinmähder chairlift was replaced by a new building. Today's 8-seater Steinmähder chairlift has its mountain station to the east just below the summit of the Zuger Hochlicht.
