The two-storey half - timbered house from the beginning of the 19th century with a half- hipped roof was initially a residential building. Soon afterwards it became an inn with an inn and dining room.

A memorial plaque for the Low German poet and writer Fritz Reuter commemorates his stay from April 26 to May 17, 1848, when he took part in the extraordinary state parliament in Schwerin as a deputy of the city of Stavenhagen (see Revolution in Mecklenburg (1848) ). In the 1920s, Paul Fischer was the owner of the restoration .

Mathias Theiner took over the restaurant Zur Gute Quelle in 1969 and renovated the house in the early 1990s; so the half-timbering, hidden behind plaster, became visible again. The small hotel has six rooms.
